The Pharmacy Department is seeking a full-time pharmacist to provide clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient oncology medication management in an interactive, interdisciplinary team environment at Sanford. Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo has been an important regional resource for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer since it opened its doors in 1990. Roger Maris Cancer Center focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer, which provides adults and pediatric patients with comprehensive cancer treatment, including bone marrow transplant. Research has also been an important component of the care and treatment at Roger Maris. Sanford Pharmacy Services are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week in the inpatient setting. The pharmacy team is involved in the inpatient and outpatient departments and work under established P&T protocols as well as collaborative practice agreements. Pharmacy services at Sanford Medical Center also include involvement in cardiology, dialysis, emergency room, general medicine, intensive care, medication reconciliation, medication delivery to bedside, oncology, OR pharmacy, transplant, and an antimicrobial stewardship program. Sanford Medical Center Fargo is a teaching hospital where the pharmacist has the opportunity to precept pharmacy residents and students.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations.
  • License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include prospective medication order review for ambulatory outpatient oncology medication orders.
  • In particular, verify all high-risk medications to ensure the appropriateness of use from clinical, financial, and policy compliance perspectives.
  • The position also includes decentralized inpatient oncology with team rounding, supporting clinical activities such as pharmacokinetics, TPN monitoring and consultation, anticoagulation review, renal dosing, IV to PO adjustments, medication profile review, and antimicrobial stewardship for an oncology patient population.
  • The position includes primarily day shifts with evening and weekend components, all focused in oncology.
  • This position will also be eligible to participate in committee work and projects as needed to elevate the oncology pharmacy practice.
  • Sanford Health is a teaching hospital where the pharmacist will have the opportunity to serve as a preceptor for our PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency program, as well as for our PGY-1 residents, PGY-2 residents, non-traditional residency program and Advanced Practice Pharmacy Experiential students.
