About The Position

As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the NICU/Pediatrics at Shea Medical Center, you will provide expertise in clinical activities relating to various clinical programs for the pharmacy department to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies. This role involves serving as the expert clinical resource for pharmacy in the specialty area, leading general and specialty direct patient care programs, and monitoring patients to assure optimal therapeutic outcomes. You will also function as a therapeutic consultant, collaborating with providers to guide appropriate medication use and recommending evidence-based medication therapy regimens. Additionally, you will be involved in educating pharmacy staff and participating in multidisciplinary clinical rounds.

Requirements

  • Pharm.D. Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • 1 year hospital pharmacy residency or 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise in clinical activities relating to various clinical programs for the pharmacy department.
  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs that promote desirable patient outcomes.
  • Serves as the expert clinical resource for pharmacy in the specialty area.
  • Leads general and specialty direct patient care programs and advanced drug management services.
  • Monitors patients to assure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions.
  • Functions as a therapeutic consultant and collaborates with providers on medication use.
  • Reviews and evaluates medical literature for pharmaceutical care and pharmacoeconomic programs.
  • Performs pharmacokinetic drug level consultations.
  • Provides patient consultations and participates in multidisciplinary clinical rounds.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based medication guidelines/protocols.
  • Acts as a liaison to nursing units to facilitate communication.
  • Develops criteria for medication use evaluations and analyzes medication-use data.
  • Develops pharmacy skills of staff members and provides educational seminars.
  • Precepts PGY1 and PGY2-Pharmacotherapy residents and pharmacy students.
