About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Pharmacist II - Oncology, manages the outpatient oncology and medical pharmacy services in collaboration with the medical staff and other health professionals. This is inclusive of daily rounds and recommendations to medical staff to improve the quality of patient outcomes, optimize drug therapy, and reduce costs. Participates in the Pharmacy &Therapeutics Committee and other committees as assigned. Conducts medication use evaluations (MUEs) reviews, formulary reviews, and reports. Manages existing procedures and protocols, or implements newly designed procedures and protocols. Integrates clinical oncology pharmacy services with information technology. Participates or leads projects supporting clinical oncology pharmacy services related to organizational needs. Support organization's preparedness for regulatory and quality measures. Provides ongoing instruction and training in all clinical oncology endeavors, protocols, etc., to all pharmacists, residents, and students at Palomar Health. When necessary, assist in the order-entry and dispensing processes. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Requirements

  • Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years direct oncology experience
  • Required Certification: Board Certification in Oncology (BCOP) within 1 year of hire
  • Required License: Current CA Registered Pharmacist (RPh)

  • Preferred Education: Master in healthcare related field; Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD)
