Responsibilities Participates as a member of the Department of Pharmacy to execute the clinical functions of the Department, with minimal distributive responsibility. Provides expertise to Mercy Health Services to enhance the appropriate, cost effective use of medications, and provides consultative services related to specialty areas of expertise. Is a resource in supporting the clinical skills of other pharmacists in the Department to assure the highest quality pharmaceutical care for Mercy patients. As a pharmacist, demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status. He/she must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs and provides care as described in the Department's Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a school of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
  • Must be licensed as a registered Pharmacist in Maryland.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and of regulatory agency requirements and professional standards of practice.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel Microsoft Outlook Meditech (if applicable to position) Epic (if applicable to position) Performance Manager/NetLearning Midas (if applicable to position) Standing Stone (if applicable to position)

Nice To Haves

  • An accredited residency in Hospital Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice or equivalent preferred.
  • Three years post-doctoral experience in a hospital environment preferred. Residency may count as one year.
  • Experience in an outpatient anticoagulation clinic strongly preferred.
