The Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the leadership, management, and oversight of all clinical pharmacy functions within Piedmont Cancer Institute (PCI). This role ensures the safe, effective, and fiscally responsible use of medications across all sites, with direct responsibility for pharmacy technicians. The Manager collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, and administrative leaders to optimize pharmacy services and deliver high-quality patient-centered care.

  • Ensures pharmacy operations adhere to institutional, state, and federal regulations, including USP 797/800 and OSHA standards. Develops, maintains, and implements departmental policies and procedures. Leads quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, including internal audits and corrective action plans.
  • Provides direct leadership and supervision to pharmacy staff. Oversees recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and evaluation of team members. Fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement through coaching, counseling, and recognition. Provides instruction and feedback to ensure adherence to PCI standards, regulations, and workflows.
  • Provides clinical support for medication management, including developing and maintaining treatment regimens, submitting prior authorizations, and monitoring formulary adherence.
  • Serves as a pharmacy subject matter expert for all disciplines within the organization.
  • Develops and executes pharmacy department goals aligned with organizational priorities, patient care standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Promotes timely and effective communication across the organization. Collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance patient care, ensure consistent standards, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Oversees daily pharmacy operations including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and staffing efficiency. Ensures safe, clean work environments and responsible resource utilization. Continuously evaluates processes and implements cost-effective solutions that maintain quality and safety.
  • Identifies and addresses educational needs within the pharmacy team. Serves as a mentor and preceptor to new staff. Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development and participates in organizational training and continuing education programs.
  • Supports research activities by maintaining familiarity with clinical trial requirements and investigational drug processes. Serves as a pharmacy resource to the PCI research team and contributes to innovative initiatives within the department.
  • Supports pharmacy staff with direct coverage when needed.
  • Supports the onboarding and orientation of new providers.
  • Participates in space planning as needs arise. Communicates the workspace needs of pharmacy services.
  • Prepares reports pertaining to pharmacy services.
  • Displays willingness and flexibility to travel to other areas and locations as needs require.
  • Manages time effectively and delegates responsibility as appropriate.
  • Respects and maintains confidential information. Demonstrates proficiency in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) concepts.
  • Performs related work as directed by the organization’s management team.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist licensure in the state of Georgia
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience, including direct management of pharmacy technicians.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile compounding (USP 797/800), chemotherapy preparation, stability, compatibility, administration, and safe handling of hazardous medications.
