About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship at NYU Langone Health is responsible for developing and maintaining high-level clinical pharmacy practices. This role involves minimal supervision, focusing on troubleshooting patient care delivery challenges, managing clinical programs, and supervising staff. The specialist will implement and sustain clinical pharmacotherapy programs, ensuring optimal medication use and safety while contributing to the professional development of pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
  • New York State Pharmacist Licensure.
  • PGY1 pharmacy residency training or equivalent experience.
  • PGY2 pharmacy residency training or equivalent salaried professorship at a school of pharmacy.
  • Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialty required within 18 months of hire.
  • Self-motivation and good communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a high level clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Troubleshoot challenges related to patient care delivery and clinical program management.
  • Precept Pharmacy Residents and mentor Pharmacy students.
  • Participate in hospital committees as assigned by the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services.
  • Document and report clinical interventions, adverse drug reactions, and medication errors.
  • Develop and implement clinical practice guidelines to enhance pharmaceutical care and medication safety.
  • Evaluate and report measures of patient encounter productivity and identify methods to enhance efficiency.
  • Identify and develop policies and procedures that optimize pharmacy operations while meeting accreditation standards.
  • Provide oversight for quality assurance of clinical pharmacy programs to improve quality of care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary bedside rounds and provide pharmacotherapeutic consultations.
