Position is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications according to professional standards and practices. The role involves verifying medication order transcription and assessing appropriateness based on specific patient parameters for indication, interactions, duplicates, allergies, route availability, and other pertinent pharmacokinetic characteristics. The position also includes compounding, labeling, packaging, and dispensing pharmaceuticals, as well as supporting the development and monitoring of clinical pharmacy parameters. Advising patients, families, and other healthcare providers on medication use, including dosage, side effects, and composition, is also a key responsibility. The position requires ensuring accuracy and sterility of compounded IV products and compliance with USP<797> and USP<800> statutes and regulatory components. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate controlled substance counts, assisting with inventory control, filling crash carts, and participating in pharmacy committees and project teams.
