About The Position

Summary: The primary responsibilities of the clinical pharmacist include providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to all patients within their scope of responsibility. Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the clinical pharmacist will perform a variety of duties including; age appropriate clinical pharmacy services, evaluation of medication orders for appropriateness, monitoring and patient follow up; drug information consultations, and support of the pharmacy department operations. The clinical pharmacist will maintain competency, training, and ongoing education of pharmaceutical knowledge, integrated technology, and practice model changes. It is the expectation of the clinical pharmacist to complete and document the appropriate tasks required to maintain patient specific record keeping in an electronic database. Such documentation may include Clinical Interventions, Safety Reporting Events, etc. The clinical pharmacist is also expected to adhere to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures as well as adherence to all the applicable laws and regulations pertinent to the proper management of pharmacy practice. As defined by the Pharmacy Leadership Team, the clinical pharmacist will be expected to meet all departmental specific goals set forth on an annual basis. As an integrated member of the Pharmacy Team, the clinical pharmacist is expected to actively participate in working committees, participate and engage in educational activities and oversee Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE)/Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students as appropriate. The incumbent will be expected to maintain competency in the core areas of the pharmacy setting (Clinical order verification/drug information, USP 795 compounding, etc.).

Requirements

  • 3 years; 1 year retail pharmacy
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understands the principles of staff engagement.
  • Proficient in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based setting.
  • Bachelors Degree
