Clinical Pharmacist for Emergency Room

About The Position

This position will support pharmacy services at OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park, IL. The focus of this position will be for emergency room (90% of the time). 2nd shift hours of 2:00pm-10:30pm (will work 90% of shifts in ER); rotating weekends and holidays of 7:00am-3:30pm/ 9:00am-4:30pm POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Pharmacist reviews prescriptions, obtains clarifications, analyzes drug therapy and regularly consults with medical staff, nursing personnel and others in order to coordinate delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services to OSF HealthCare patients. In addition, the clinical staff pharmacist is responsible for compounding and dispensing medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established procedures and professional pharmacy practice. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Requirements

  • PHRM-Pharmacist
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required within 90 days of hire.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and various other OSF HealthCare personnel when explaining medication use and gathering and exchanging other medication information.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to determine drug appropriateness and evaluate drug interactions.
  • Demonstrated skills in independent problem solving, decision‑making abilities, and prioritization/delegation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to process detailed information in an accurate manner.
  • Competency in the use of an electronic medical record system.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Pharmacy Practice PGY1
  • 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience serving a variety of patient types
  • Board Certification through Board of Pharmacy Specialties
