The Acute Care Clinical Pharmacist position at Novant Health is a PRN role with shifts available from 7am-3:30pm or 1pm-9:30pm, including weekends with a rotation every 4th weekend. The Pharmacy Vision is to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, ensuring that each Pharmacy employee understands their contribution to the health system's commitment to patients and families.

  • Flexibility in working in acute care capacities with adults and pediatrics (ICN, PICU, general peds)
  • Facilitates pharmaceutical care services and medication utilization systems within assigned services and care areas to ensure drug utilization activities align with patient care needs, evidence-based best practices, and regulatory standards
  • Completes critical patient monitoring and reviews patient profiles/charts to identify, prevent, or mitigate drug-related problems
  • Partners as an active member of a multidisciplinary team and collaborates with healthcare providers within decentralized patient care areas to provide patient-centered care
  • Makes appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations
  • Participates in the management of medical emergencies for adult and pediatric patients
  • Provides discharge medication review, reconciliation, and counseling as appropriate
  • Maintains proficiency in and actively engages in central dispensing functions and operational programs
  • Oversees pharmacy operations and technician practice/activities
  • Maintains proficiency in preceptor roles and actively emulates education/mentorship skills
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification required
  • PharmD preferred
  • Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity required
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification required
  • Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy preferred
  • Acute care clinical pharmacy practice experience with adult and pediatrics
  • High sensitivity to pharmacy support and teamwork
