About The Position

Provides technical, analytic and clinical support related to the management of VNS Health Plans's pharmaceutical programs across all business lines. Resolves problems regarding Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) clinical pharmaceutical services. Serves as a mentor for clinical pharmacists as a senior clinical pharmacy resource for clinical staff with medication management questions or pharmaceutical problems. Develops, implements, and oversees new clinical intervention programs, maintains department workflows. Project leads for applicable business areas. Works under minimal supervision and fosters interdepartmental and external vendor collaboration.

Requirements

  • Licensed and registered in New York State to Practice as a Registered Pharmacist required.
  • Valid driver's license or NYS Non-Driver photo ID card, may be required as determined by operational/regional needs required.
  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
  • Minimum of five years of Managed Care Pharmacy experience required.
  • Experience in a managed care and/or clinical care setting and geriatric pharmacy management, including experience in developing and providing professional and patient educational programs in pharmaceutical care required.
  • Experience in the use and analysis of pharmaceutical data and databases required.
  • Ability to use software and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees development and updates of internal workflows to improve efficiency and process for the department.
  • Develops, implements, and has oversight of Behavioral Health medication management interventions.
  • Leads clinical pharmacy projects and initiatives to improve medication use and patient outcomes, including supporting regulatory needs associated with the projects.
  • Develops and analyzes pharmacy data reports to identify areas for improvement and implement quality initiatives.
  • Collaborates with internal and external healthcare teams or vendors to report on Pharmacy quality initiatives, including communication with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Prepares pharmacy data reports and analysis that meets the planning, clinical, quality, and regulatory needs of the corporate entity and all lines of business, working with the Medical Management, Data Management, Finance Departments and clinical operations.
  • Participates in the decision making process for Prior Authorization processes related to pharmacy claims.
  • Responds to, researches and resolves any problems related to member complaints regarding Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) clinical pharmaceutical services.
  • Delivers pharmacy related education and training including new employee orientation.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
