About The Position

Corewell Health Ludington Hospital is seeking a qualified pharmacist to maintain accountability for ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication use. The pharmacist will educate and act as a consultant to patients, families, and members of the healthcare team regarding optimal drug therapy. Responsibilities include interpreting and screening medication orders, compounding and dispensing medications, evaluating patients, ordering laboratory tests, and providing dosage regimen recommendations. The pharmacist will also supervise technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel, engage in continuous professional development, and ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in hospital pharmacy.

  • Ideal candidate will possess a PharmD Degree and either Inpatient experience or a PGY1 or PGY2 Residency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accountability for ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication use.
  • Educates and acts as a consultant to patients/family and members of the health care team related to optimal drug therapy.
  • Participates in process improvement activities and drug use evaluations.
  • Works with multiple medication automation systems.
  • Interprets and screens medication orders for appropriate agent, dose, route, allergies, and potential drug interactions.
  • Safely compounds and dispenses medications for administration to patients.
  • Evaluates patients, orders appropriate laboratory tests, and interprets serum drug levels utilizing pharmacokinetic principles.
  • Provides prescribers with dosage regimen recommendations to optimize therapeutic outcomes, reduce patient risk, and monitor costs associated with drug therapy.
  • Provides appropriate supervision and direction within appropriate skill level to technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel.
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain professional competence.
  • Completes required continuous training and education on a timely basis.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients/family/significant others/members of the health care team.
