About The Position

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is looking for a IV Room Lead Pharmacist to oversee sterile compounding operations and lead our IV room team. This position is ideal for a hospital or clinical pharmacist with strong attention to detail and a passion for quality, safety, and team leadership. Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. This recognition has been accomplished by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St. Louis metro area. The Inpatient Pharmacy at Missouri Baptist Medical Center consists of a Central Pharmacy including a Class 10,000 Clean Room for sterile product preparation and satellite pharmacies in the Operating Room, the Cancer/Infusion Center, and satellites or decentralized pharmacists on several inpatient floors. The hospital uses Pyxis Connect digital order imaging, medication bar coding, an electronic medication administration record, and Alaris Guardrails ''smart'' IV pumps. The department utilizes Pyxis medstations for distribution of 90% of medication. The Pharmacy program at MoBap also administers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
  • Directs and manages workflow in focused area of pharmacy practice. Activities include oversight of pharmacists, technicians, interns and volunteers ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with departmental procedures and Federal and State regulations.
  • Participates in the delivery of educational programs within and outside of the pharmacy department. Serves on committees at the health service organization.
  • Serves as a lead on the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Provides advanced level support to the professional, operational, and patient care aspects of the pharmacy department. Identifies and implements improvements to the medication use process.
