About The Position

Prepares and dispenses parenteral, enteral, and oral medications in accordance with state and federal law and Trinity Health Policy. Monitors patients' medication therapy and proactively works with providers and staff to optimize patient care. Provides drug information and medication education to patients and care givers. Directs support personnel and technicians. Job Description Details: Routinely performs all the duties of a pharmacist but also utilizes a large amount of their assigned work time to a specialty clinical or operational area within the pharmacy that provides direct support or training for other staff. What the Inpatient Pharmacist will do: o Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. o Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. o Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. o Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed. o Provides drug information and counseling to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. o Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned. o Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel, verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. What the Inpatient Pharmacist will need: o Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. o One year of inpatient pharmacy experience in a similar sized hospital location or PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency completion o Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification may be required (at discretion of manager). Requirements

  • Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
