We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our interdisciplinary care team. This position provides clinical pharmacy coverage across critical care units—including MSICU, CCU, CVICU—and supports cardiovascular and graduate medical education (GME) rounding services. The Clinical Pharmacist will focus on providing clinical pharmacy coverage primarily within the critical care and rounding services. The position provides coverage for bedside rounds in the MSICU, the CCU, the CVICU and our cardiovascular and GME rounding service lines. There is a rotating responsibility to respond with our emergency response team. The position is 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) with weekend rotations required. The pharmacist will coordinate and assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical pharmacy programs to ensure clinical services meet the requirements and needs of the patients. There is the opportunity to participate in precepting PGY-1 pharmacy residents and PGY-2 critical care residents if precepting requirements are met.

  • Utilize good problem-solving abilities, making sure that problems are resolved, calling on other knowledgeable parties as necessary.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense accordingly.
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints.
  • Determine and consult on possible drug interactions.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
  • Monitor, record and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Utilize knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Current TN Pharmacist licensure or eligible for licensure
  • One-year hospital experience or equivalent
  • Hospital pharmacy residency preferred
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Doctorate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
