The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical, surgical, oncology, and pediatric patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 70 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 32 general and specialized pharmacy residents. This position serves in the Pediatric Pharmacy Division which provides comprehensive pharmacy services to all pediatric patients at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Rubenstein Clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm. D. or BS degree.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.
  • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is desired.
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification is desired.
  • Previous clinical health-system experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to promote the safe and effective use of medications during the medication order review and verification process.
  • Addressing clinical pharmacy questions and concerns.
  • Completing therapeutic drug monitoring for high risk medications.
  • Medication management.
  • Emergency code response.
  • Care coordination.
  • Drug information response.
  • Education to students, residents, pharmacists, other health care practitioners and patients and family members.
