Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion program.
Prior experience as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist, preferably with experience in organ procurement or DCD cases.
Minimum 5 years’ experience.
Demonstrated experience with ECOS and other extracorporeal support technologies.
Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
Current BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross).
OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability and uninsured motorist coverage.
Must be able to use office equipment, including personal computer, fax machine, calculator, photocopier/scanner, cell phone and audio/visual equipment.
Reliable automotive transportation required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent verbal communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Competency in managing a full range of perfusion procedures.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation habits.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and professionalism.
Willingness to participate in professional development and continuous improvement.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move heavy equipment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with organ procurement procedures is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Operate and manage extracorporeal circulation systems.
Thorough understanding of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, pharmacology, and sterile techniques.
Administer medications, blood products, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.
Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in donor medical records.
Coordinate the care and recovery of DCD donors with transplant teams, hospital surgical teams, OPO staff and ICU teams.
Support patient resuscitation and emergency interventions as needed.
Maintain equipment logs and perform routine equipment checks.
Participating in education, quality assurance, and research activities.
Participate in post-case debriefings and quality improvement initiatives to refine NRP procedures and protocols.
Educate and Train advanced surgical coordinators in the practice of perfusionist for sole purpose of performing A-NRP.
Maintain inventory and ensure readiness of perfusion-related supplies and disposables and equipment.
Support hospital partners related to blood management and quality improvement.
Participate in monthly department meetings.
Train advanced surgical coordinators in the practice of perfusion on A-NRP donors.
Collaborate with surgeons to establish a bypass circuit involving central cannulation of the right atrial appendage and ascending aorta.
Initiate warm, oxygenated perfusion to the thoracic and abdominal regions while ensuring cerebral protection through vessel occlusion.
Maintain and monitor all perfusion parameters, including blood pressure, flow rates, temperature, blood gas analysis, and electrolyte levels.
Assist with the cannulation of the iliac artery and vein or the abdominal aorta and inferior vena cava to establish abdominal-only perfusion.
Control the ECOS circuit to ensure optimal flow and oxygenation to the abdominal organs, such as the liver, kidneys, and pancreas.
Monitor and adjust perfusion parameters to optimize organ function and reduce warm ischemic time.
