About The Position

Clinical Outreach Travel (COTs) drivers are responsible for transporting MUSC doctors and staff to and from affiliated medical institutions across South Carolina. Drivers will wait at their destination until doctors and staff have completed their assigned duties

Requirements

  • One year experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • Some positions require a valid driver's license and/or commerical driver's license.

  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.

  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be able to safely operate all types of motor vehicles including cars, trucks, vans, and small buses.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work efficiently under stress.
  • Must have current, valid SC Driver's License and a certified copy of ten-year driving record from DMV.
  • Must be able to perform cleaning/maintenance duties in all weather conditions and lift and move heavy objects such as mop/bucket, vacuum cleaner, etc.
  • Requires sitting 80% of the time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Picks-up doctor’s and staff at designated meeting point and transports them to a MUSC affiliated medical facility. Drivers will wait until doctors and staff complete their duties in order to return them to a MUSC affiliated drop-off location.
  • Perform driver pre/post vehicle inspections (i.e., inspects tires, adds fluids, reports damages). Fuel and clean vehicles assigned for each COTS request (i.e., mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing).
  • Responsible for understating details of their assigned COTs requests (i.e., pick-up times, location, passengers, etc.)
  • Responsible for reasonably accommodating doctors and staff (i.e., providing portable Wi-Fi hotspots, parking in a shady area, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate administrative and operational records, including vehicle inspection logs, mileage reports, accident/incident documentation, and COTS folders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, patients transport, and campus shuttle.
