About The Position

The Clinical Outreach Specialist at the University of Southern California (USC) will play a pivotal role in promoting awareness and access to clinical trials for cell and gene therapies. This position is part of the USC+CHLA Alpha Clinic, which aims to advance clinical research and support diverse communities in Los Angeles. The specialist will engage with community clinics and healthcare organizations to enhance understanding and participation in clinical trials, ultimately facilitating access to innovative therapies for various conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; combined education/experience may substitute for minimum experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical environments.
  • Experience with community-serving organizations, such as federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and community clinics.
  • Strong background in community engagement and knowledge about clinical trials is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of constituents including healthcare providers and support staff.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build strong relationships with community healthcare organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading community outreach initiatives.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desired.
  • Research experience in the field of cell and gene therapy is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of educational programs related to cell and gene therapy trials for healthcare providers and clinic staff.
  • Lead a California-wide Alpha Clinic Network community engagement initiative to enhance clinical trial access for patients.
  • Manage outreach activities targeting community clinics and healthcare providers, ensuring effective communication with healthcare staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between USC and CHLA research teams conducting clinical trials and community healthcare providers and patients.
  • Develop and distribute promotional materials to increase event awareness and community involvement.
  • Lead team meetings and serve as a key resource for program-related questions and problem resolution.
  • Develop clinical outreach strategies for research proposals.
  • Create presentations, surveys, analyze data, and generate written reports based on findings.
  • Oversee students, volunteers, and resource employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
