About The Position

Clinical Outcomes Specialist (COS) Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy Unit The Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit is a 48-bed unit and one of MD Anderson’s designated immunotherapy floors. This unit administers advanced research protocols involving immunotherapy and CAR-T–associated toxicity (CARTOX) therapies, including Phase I clinical trials. Staff receive additional specialized training to support patients receiving these innovative and complex therapies, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based care. Work Schedule This position primarily works a day/evening schedule (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) . As a leadership role within a 24/7 clinical environment , flexibility is required to ensure quality oversight and leadership presence across both day and night shifts. As an essential employee , hours may vary based on operational needs. Occasionally early morning, evening, or night presence is expected to support staff engagement, unit rounding, and leadership coverage. Ideal Candidate The ideal Clinical Outcomes Specialist is an experienced nursing professional who serves as a clinical expert and collaborative leader. Accountable for coordinating and integrating care for a designated patient cohort, this role focuses on patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuity of care from admission through discharge. Successful candidates demonstrate strong relationship-centered care principles, effective communication skills, and the ability to assess and anticipate patient needs. The COS partners closely with unit leadership and the interprofessional team, uses data to guide improvement initiatives, and remains committed to advancing quality and safety at the microsystem level. Job Summary Serves as a clinical expert in nursing, focused on improving the quality, safety, and outcomes of patient care through collaboration, analysis, and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
  • Master's Degree Healthcare field.
  • 5 years Clinical nursing experience to include three years of oncology nursing experience.
  • 3 years Oncology nursing experience with preferred degree.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Upon Hire
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire
  • Certification in quality or specialty focused area. Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for quality and process improvement
  • Lead and collaborate with the interprofessional team in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient-centered care
  • Coordinate and integrate care for a designated cohort of patients from admission through discharge
  • Analyze patient data and outcomes to inform care delivery and improvement initiatives
  • Partner with unit leadership to ensure lateral integration of care at the microsystem level
  • Promote high-quality patient outcomes while maintaining patient safety
  • Apply relationship-centered care principles in daily practice and decision-making
  • Assess patient needs and use clinical judgment to guide care coordination
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interprofessional team members
