About The Position

The Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader for Ophthalmology at Roche/Genentech is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategy and execution of clinical operations within the Ophthalmology portfolio. This position plays a crucial role in transforming drug development and ensuring the delivery of innovative medicines that address significant societal health challenges. The leader will oversee portfolio management, risk assessment, and foster collaboration across various teams to drive operational excellence and innovation in clinical trials.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical clinical operations experience, with at least 10 years in global clinical operations strategy leadership.
  • Strong knowledge in the area of Ophthalmology, including trends and issues in the global landscape.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global Pharma clinical development in international settings.
  • Proven success in strategy development and execution using analytics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience managing large, matrixed organizations and fostering collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine the Ophthalmology portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment with the Clinical Development Plan and One Pharma Strategy.
  • Maintain active oversight of Ophthalmology portfolio assets and studies, monitoring status to anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Foster collaboration with PDG, APO, COEs, and other enterprise teams, acting as a key decision-maker on strategic operational decisions.
  • Utilize analytics and process optimization to enhance efficiency, manage budgets, and improve the probability of technical success.
  • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including patient advocacy groups and health authorities, to drive successful outcomes.
  • Represent the Ophthalmology TA within the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team, modeling collective leadership behaviors and fostering alignment with Roche's mission.
  • Lead a matrixed organization of approximately 150 employees, focusing on talent development and building an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Inspire and motivate team members, conduct performance assessments, and manage people-related administrative tasks.
