The Clinical Operations Manager (COM) at UChicago Student Wellness is a pivotal role that oversees the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring that patient-centered healthcare is delivered effectively and efficiently. Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations, the COM is responsible for managing a team of nursing and medical assistant staff, ensuring that all activities related to patient care are executed smoothly. This includes supervising Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and Phlebotomists, while also managing patient flow, education, referrals, and documentation within the medical record system. The COM plays a crucial role in developing and implementing policies and procedures that align with best practice guidelines, focusing on patient care and safety. This position requires a proactive approach to staff education and training, promoting professional growth through coaching and mentoring. The COM is also responsible for creating a positive work environment that fosters staff morale and commitment, while maintaining open communication among team members and other healthcare professionals. In addition to daily operational management, the COM collaborates closely with the Medical Director to provide performance feedback, conduct appraisals, and coordinate risk management and compliance objectives. The role demands a strong focus on quality and safety, particularly in laboratory and point-of-care testing, while also managing the financial aspects of the clinic, including budget development and expense monitoring. The COM must be adept at multitasking, managing time constraints, and providing exceptional customer service to a diverse population.
