About The Position

We are partnering with a specialty oral surgery practice to hire a confident, experienced Clinical Operations Lead to oversee the back-office surgical team across two locations. This role was created to bring consistency, leadership, and clinical excellence to a growing oral surgery practice with three surgeons and two locations. You will be the go-to leader for the surgical team — keeping staffing, flow, and safety running smoothly so doctors and patients can focus on care. This is a hands-on clinical leadership role for someone with a dental or surgical background who enjoys building strong teams, improving how things run, and staying connected to patient care.

Requirements

  • Dental Assistant, Surgical Assistant, RN, or similar clinical background
  • Experience in a dental or surgical setting
  • Comfort leading peers and making decisions
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain with in-house support)

  • Oral surgery experience
  • Multi-provider or multi-location experience
  • Experience training or supervising clinical teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead Clinical Staffing & Daily Flow
  • Build and manage back-office schedules
  • Adjust coverage for PTO, call-outs, and surgery volume
  • Coordinate staffing across Cedar Rapids and Marion
  • Be the first point of contact for coverage issues
  • Participate in daily huddles and flow planning
  • Own Clinical Readiness & Safety
  • Oversee sterilization and infection control
  • Complete and review sterilizer logs
  • Monitor PPE, medications, and expiration dates
  • Ensure rooms, supplies, and trays are ready
  • Prepare staffing and setup for the next day
  • Lead, Train & Support the Team
  • Supervise and coach surgical assistants
  • Train and onboard new team members
  • Reinforce standards, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Identify training gaps and process improvements
  • Stay Clinically Involved
  • Assist with rooming, chairside support, turnover, and post-op care as needed.
