About The Position

The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist, as an extension of the Pharmacy Department’s clinical program, provides complete pharmaceutical care to Oncology/Hematology patients through comprehensive and integrated medication review, clinical services, research, and education to both patients and staff. They are responsible for working directly with physicians via clinical rounds and individually to develop and implement cost effective formulary strategies that maintain or improve clinical outcomes. Duties include: intervention reporting, preparation of financial reports, patient assessment, clinical support, staff education, drug utilization evaluation, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Two years experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in good standing by the State of California
  • Ability to evaluate medical literature.
  • Ability to make presentations at committee meetings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist will have the ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as required by practice setting.
  • Ability to educate healthcare professionals and coordinate clinical initiatives efficiently with a customer service focus.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with all levels of staff.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in observation and review of clinical pharmacy procedure and application.
  • Detail oriented with an ability to prioritize workload with effective time management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast pace, high-pressure environment.
  • Highly effective problem identifying and problem solving skills.
  • Able to reason and think outside of the “box” while conforming to required procedures.
  • Complies with all Federal, State and local laws governing business conduct.
  • Conducts business in the highest ethical and trustworthy manner.
  • Displays the qualities and characteristics of the highest professional level at all times when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers and fellow employees.
  • Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharm D. or other advanced pharmacy related training
  • Graduate of ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Demonstrated application of drug knowledge and clinical judgment in a similar position
  • Two years experience in a clinical hospital pharmacy setting
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current PALS certification
  • Current BLS certification
