About The Position
Elevate your nursing career by joining the Cardiovascular Step-Down Unit at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, where every shift offers meaningful patient impact, advanced clinical practice, and the support of a team that values your skills and dedication. In this high-acuity, fast-paced environment, you will care for patients recovering from complex cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, managing approximately 30-50 pre- and post-operative cases each month. The newly designed 18-bed unit features private rooms and advanced monitoring systems to support safe, precise care, including multiple lines and drips. With typical patient stays ranging from 1 to 4 days, you'll deliver focused, efficient care while gaining experience with a diverse range of needs, including occasional boarders. This unit is an ideal place to grow-whether you're aiming to strengthen your clinical expertise or advance into leadership, you'll find mentorship, learning opportunities, and a clear pathway forward. As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs-from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team
Requirements
- ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).

- Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.
