About The Position

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible Clinical Nurse position in GI/Endoscopy Services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The role involves 4 - 10 hour shifts per week, from 7am to 5:30pm, with no set days off. Call is required, with call hours from 5pm to 7am. The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of RN experience in GI, ICU, ED, OR, or another critical care area. Its Endoscopy Services are nationally recognized, caring for 16,000 patients annually using advanced techniques and technology across outpatient, inpatient, and interventional pulmonology suites. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) recognizes the quality programs, and the team is dedicated to advancing patient care. The primary purpose of this role is to provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to established nursing care standards.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma/Associate's
  • RN license

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
  • Less than 2 years of experience
  • At least 3 years of RN experience in GI, ICU, ED, OR or another critical care area

Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
