About The Position
The Surgical Progressive Care Unit cares for critically ill patients requiring a higher level of care. The PCU RN is capable and skilled in managing very complex surgical patients. All patients require central monitoring and frequent monitoring/interventions. The patient population is comprised of acutely ill surgical patients requiring a higher level of nursing care and monitoring. This unit primarily cares for post-op patients admitted to the Abdominal Transplant, Hepatobiliary Surgery, ENT/Plastics Surgery and Ortho-micro Surgery teams. Secondary, this unit manages critical care needs for patients admitted to the Trauma/ACCS/Geriatric Trauma Surgery teams, Orthopedic-Spine/Recon/Hand etc. teams as well as Vascular Surgery and other overflow teams.
