About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Nurse Supervisor to lead our Pre-Operative, Post-Operative, IPC, and Pre-Admission Services departments. This is a full-time, salaried leadership role, working Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, offering the opportunity to guide a dedicated team while ensuring exceptional patient care. As a Unit Supervisor, you will not only oversee daily operations and staff performance but also step in to provide hands-on clinical support when staffing levels require. Position Summary The Clinical Nurse Supervisor provides daily operational support and frontline clinical leadership within assigned departments of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role ensures efficient departmental operations, supports clinical staff, and upholds patient care standards in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing required.
5 years in a surgical environment, 2 years of supervisory management experience, ASC experience.
WA State RN Licensure/Registration required.
BLS and ACLS Certification through AHA required.
PALS required for PACU required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; strong problem-solving.
Decision-making and time-management skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of operations, including staffing, scheduling, productivity management, workflow planning and staff development.
Proficient in use of PC-based computer software including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Staffing and Scheduling: Oversee staffing levels and manage scheduling to meet operational needs.
Orientation and Onboarding: Assist in developing and delivering orientation programs and onboarding materials for new hires.
Education and Competency: Support staff education initiatives and competency assessments to maintain clinical excellence.
Performance Management: Contribute to performance evaluations and provide feedback to promote professional growth.
Patient Care Standards: Maintain and promote evidence-based practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
Quality Improvement: Assist with implementation and monitoring of quality improvement measures to enhance clinical outcomes.
Operational Support: Serve as an additional resource and backup for unit staff and departmental operations; fill staffing gaps as needed.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, education and evaluations of staff.
Participates in the design of a staffing plan to meet the needs of the patients being served and assures appropriate allocation of resources to meet those needs.
Monitors performance of staff and departmental processes, providing timely feedback and coaching. Applies concepts of a positive culture in the analysis of situations.
Supports the Nurse Manager to create and maintain a positive work environment that supports a culture of shared decision-making and open communication where staff are held accountable for patient and department outcomes.
Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
Understands the departmental budget and assists with input on annual capital needs and department expenses.
Demonstrates knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations/accreditation. Maintains compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, ASC and departmental policies and procedures.
Implement the staffing matrix by maintaining department schedules to ensure appropriate coverage across all clinical areas.
Assists manager in reviewing, approving, and tracking vacation, PTO, and leave requests to ensure alignment with staffing needs and organizational policy.
Serves as the designated flex resource, providing direct patient care when staffing shortages occur.
In conjunction with manager; overseas accurate timekeeping for hourly staff.
Reviews timecards in accordance with payroll deadlines and organizational policy.
Addresses discrepancies, missed punches, and overtime management proactively.
Ensures consistent hourly rounding practices across all departments.
Monitors compliance with patient safety standards and escalation processes.
Serves as a clinical resource to staff for patient care concerns and workflow challenges.
Collaborates with OR Supervisor in assessing Add-on case requests.
Actively participates in quality improvement (QI) and process improvement initiatives.
Identifies trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in patient care and operations.
Supports Incident reporting and chart audit completion.
Collaborate with leadership to implement and evaluate improvement plans.
Supports compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
Participates in the hiring process, including interviews and candidate selection.
Coordinates onboarding and orientation for new hires.
Assists in monitoring completion of required competencies, education, and documentation by clinical staff.
Supports preceptors and evaluates orientation progress.
Assists with audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews.
Ensures staff adherence to policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
Supports corrective action plans and follow-up activities as needed.
Assists with annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support.
Addresses’ performance concerns in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Human Resources.
Promotes accountability, professionalism, and a positive work culture.
Serves as a visible leader and role model for clinical excellence.
Facilitates effective communication between staff and leadership.
Supports team engagement, collaboration, and retention initiatives.
