Job Summary The RN – Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative leadership for a hospital unit, supporting patient care delivery and overseeing nursing staff performance. This position works in collaboration with the unit director to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, shift coordination, support for clinical practice, and facilitation of operational initiatives, staffing, and patient flow.

Requirements

  • Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited school of nursing. (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice. (Required upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS). (Required upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe)
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in acute care nursing. (Required)
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate, evaluate, and guide staff performance.
  • Ability to multitask and respond effectively in high-stress clinical environments.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and hospital systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or NIH Stroke Scale certification. (May be required – facility specific; upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe)
  • Prior experience in a charge nurse or supervisory role. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical leadership and supervision for RN, LPN, NA, and unit support staff.
  • Assists with patient care, nursing assessments, and treatment planning using the nursing process.
  • Coordinates nursing activities and resource utilization to achieve unit goals.
  • Ensures quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in daily operations.
  • Participates in patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
  • Supports staff development through mentoring, training, and education.
  • Assists with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Contributes to budgeting, staffing plans, and resource management.
  • Participates in audits, performance improvement initiatives, and policy development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
