About The Position

Clinical nurse leader for a program or area of nursing practice. Utilizes specialized knowledge and skills within major areas of focus, such as patient / family, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization / system. Typically partners with the nurse manager in leading the nursing clinical practice area. This is the journey level for an advanced practice clinical nurse specialist. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $218,200 - $245,700 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • At least 3 years of nursing experience in a pediatric acute care hospital
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • In-depth knowledge of patient population in the pediatric acute care environment, to include diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice and patient / family educational consulting and resources.
  • Advanced knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess highly-complex issues and develop multiple options for resolution.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide education, training, and direction to nursing staff, and to develop positive working relationships with patients, families, employees, and outside agencies as required.
  • Advanced skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex and / or sensitive information in a clear and concise manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of patient population in the pediatric transitional care (step-down) or pediatric critical care environment, to include diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice and patient / family educational consulting and resources.
  • 1 or more years in an advanced practice nurse position or equivalent
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist, or evidence of working towards.
