About The Position

Work Schedule: 100% FTE salaried position. The scheduled shifts are primarily Monday-Friday day shifts with some off shifts and weekends. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department. You will work on-site primarily at American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) located in Madison, WI. Description: Be part of something remarkable Advance your professional nursing career at the nationally known American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) and University Hospital in Madison, WI! Play a pivotal role in launching the new Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CICU) at American Family Children’s Hospital, shaping care delivery for a growing population of complex cardiac patients within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Serve as the clinical expert for pediatric cardiac critical care, advancing nursing practice and elevating standards of care in a newly established, highly specialized CICU environment. Identify gaps in care and lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Mentor and consult with nursing staff to strengthen clinical expertise, integrate emerging technology, and promote excellence in pediatric cardiac intensive care. Lead quality improvement and research initiatives while influencing system-level decisions to remove barriers and optimize care for critically ill children and families. Act as a clinical expert for specific clinical populations; this position requires a completed MSN degree and a minimum of three years of pediatric cardiac ICU nursing experience (strongly preferred) to support this high-acuity, transformative expansion in pediatric cardiac care. Requirements

  • Master's Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required
  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification Required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus Preferred
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical center Preferred
  • CNS certification Preferred
