About The Position

Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Master’s-prepared Clinical Nurse Specialists are invited to apply for opportunities across Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, and Wisconsin. This role offers the opportunity to lead clinical practice, influence patient outcomes, and partner with nursing leadership within Mayo Clinic. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates who meet eligibility requirements. Positions are site-based, with opportunities available across multiple Mayo Clinic locations. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), also known as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), works collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired patient outcomes in a designated population/specialty practice. The CNS functions as a leader within the three spheres of influence (Patient/Client, Nurses and Nursing Practice, Organization/System), and is an active participant in the nursing leadership team within a nationally recognized healthcare system, supporting evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and clinical practice advancement. This role provides an opportunity to lead clinical practice, mentor nursing teams, and drive improvements in patient care outcomes. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship for qualified Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing (MSN) with a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) focus.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements. This RN job may require a RN license in multiple states.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers), Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers), or Military Training Network.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree preferred.
  • Experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) preferred.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient needs and CNS workload.
  • Five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in the specialty area preferred.
  • Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area is highly recommended.
