About The Position

H1’s vision is to empower our patients and their families by providing collaborative compassionate care through a standard of accountability and excellence. We use an interdisciplinary approach that works closely with the nursing assistants, physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, case managers, social workers, dieticians, and rehabilitation specialists from occupational, physical and speech therapy. Our team emphasizes growth, learning and teamwork, while promoting and maintaining an environment to deliver the highest quality of care for the patients. H1 is a 24-bed Acuity Adaptable Unit (AAU) that provides care for 3 unique and specific patient populations: Ears/Nose/Throat (ENT), Plastics, and Chronic Pain. The common surgical procedures seen on H1 include neck dissections, tracheostomies, laryngectomies, thyroidectomies, maxillomandibular advancement/osteotomy for sleep apnea, tissue reconstruction and flaps, and mastectomies. Common interventions on H1 include management of the complex ENT airway outside of the ICU, every hour flap checks, leech therapy, lidocaine and ketamine infusions, and DHE infusions for migraines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • 2 years experience in an inpatient setting; Medical Surgical experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • CA-RN (Registered Nurse) license.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Obtains accurate and relevant assessment data and interprets the data.
  • Determines nursing diagnosis and monitors patient data.
  • Collaborates with the patient, family, and healthcare team to develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Implements nursing and medical interventions safely.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and monitors for adverse responses.
  • Assesses learning needs and teaches patients and families for self-care and illness prevention.
  • Communicates effectively in various formats.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting.
  • Monitors own practices and assists in monitoring others for compliance to standards.
