Clinical Nurse, PRN Duke University Health System- Duke University Hospital seeks to hire a Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. Department Profile: The NeuroScience Progressive Care Units (also known as Stepdown) at Duke University Hospital comprises of two 37 bed units (one on the 8th and one on the 9th floor) of the Brand new Duke Central Tower. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient and their families to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. Similar to the high acuity of a community hospital ICU, the Neuro Stepdown units see a myriad of populations and cases that may include but are not limited to: vasoactive drips, drains, arterial lines, tracheostomy, chest tubes, central lines, and more. The Neuro stepdown units receive medically complex patients that no longer require mechanical ventilation. Patient Ratio: 1:3/4 Work Hours & Shifts: A minimum commitment of one 12 hour shift per pay period OR a minimum commitment of over 20 hours per pay period Available shifts: Straight Days, Rotating and Straight Night Shifts: 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am One weekend shift per pay period per 4 week block of time Holiday commitment: Rotation between Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's. Job Summary: As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model and participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
