About The Position

The Clinical Nurse, Outpatient position at the Gastrointestinal Center of MD Anderson Cancer Center involves managing patient outcomes by providing and coordinating clinical aspects of direct patient care. Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in specific departments.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in specific departments.
• Preferred: Two years of RN experience in GI, Med/Surg, ER, or ICU; oncology experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in oncology nursing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient outcomes by providing and coordinating clinical aspects of direct patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients, and families to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
• Assess patients' needs for nursing care and other services using clinical skills and analytical abilities.
• Integrate knowledge of age-specific care needs and oncology practice principles in providing care.
• Participate in data collection for current studies and improve practice by integrating research results.
• Demonstrate clinical competency in providing care, administering medications, and managing emergencies.
• Ensure continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning and patient education.
• Organize and prioritize work of the patient care team; train and assist team members.
