Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and ready. Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infections. Ensure that the surgical team adheres to aseptic techniques. Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during the procedure. Monitor the patient's vital signs and communicate any changes to the surgical team. Act as the patient's advocate, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the procedure. Accurately document the surgical procedure, including the instruments used, the patient's condition, and any occurrences during surgery.
Requirements
- NYS RN license & registration
- Minimum of 1 year of operating room RN experience in an acute care setting required
- A good decision-maker, with shown success at making timely decisions that maintain high standards of nursing care within the organization
- Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged
- Approachable - someone who is comfortable with diverse groups of people and able to make others comfortable with you. An effective communicator.
- Willing to take action and eager to accept new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and passion
Nice To Haves
- CNOR certification highly preferred
- BSN preferred; ASN
