About The Position

Under the direction of the Clinical and Ambulatory Operations Director, the Clinical Nurse Manager serves as the Infection Control Officer and is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and oversight of nursing operations at the Student Health Center (SHC). This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant clinical care; oversees nursing practice; manages staff development; and administers infection control programs in alignment with university policies, regulatory standards, and public health guidelines. The role requires strong clinical expertise, operational leadership, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of supervising a medical care unit.
  • Solid knowledge of patient need and care assessment.
  • Broad clinical skills in providing and supervising the appropriate medical care to patients.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff members, and other members of the medical community.
  • Knowledge of leadership and supervision of nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of electronic / medical record systems.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, human resource management, financial resource.
  • Knowledge and experience with customer service.
  • Ability to meet the challenges of complicated patient conditions, emergent situations, public health issues.
  • Knowledge and compliance with standards of regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with accreditation process.
  • Experience in infection control programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and write nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and provide health and safety training.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area
  • Must have current and valid California State RN license.
  • Must have CPR certification.
  • 5 years of demonstrated and proven quality nursing and management experience
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
  • Experience in patient care operations in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience working in a Union environment
