About The Position

Clinical Manager 4 South - Med Surg/ Cardiac Meritus is now seeking an inspiring and compassionate Clinical Nurse Manager to lead our 4S Cardiac Medical-Surgical Unit , where clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care come together to make a meaningful difference every day. This leadership role provides 24-hour accountability for the clinical, operational, and financial performance of the unit. The Clinical Nurse Manager plays a vital role in advancing Meritus Health’s commitment to safe, high-quality, and equitable care , while creating an environment where patients feel cared for, families feel supported, and nurses feel valued and empowered. As a key contributor to the nursing strategic plan, the Clinical Manager partners with interdisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement, uphold professional standards, and ensure exceptional outcomes for our patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical nursing experience , in an acute care medical-surgical setting
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland required (or multistate/compact license that is recognized in Maryland)

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop nursing teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems
  • Dedication to continuous learning, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred
  • Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Professional certification in Nursing Leadership or specialty preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and compassionate cardiac nursing care aligned with Meritus Health’s mission and values.
  • Maintain 24-hour clinical, operational, and financial accountability for the unit.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional excellence , supporting staff engagement and retention.
  • Champion patient- and family-centered care by promoting dignity, respect, and clear communication.
  • Partner with nursing and interdisciplinary leaders to support strategic initiatives, quality improvement, and care transformation efforts.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and regulatory compliance, implementing improvements to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Uphold the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Maryland Nurse Practice Act , addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Serve as a visible and supportive leader who promotes a healing environment for patients, families, and staff.
