About The Position

Position Summary: The Specialty Nurse Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all clinical functions, nursing practice and the standards of care related to the delivery of patient care within the assigned specialty service in the Main Operating Room. Will use the nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver care to meet the identified needs of patients having operative procedures. Assists in directing daily activities, leading, planning, controlling and evaluating nursing practices and operations for the specialty area. Provides patient care to assigned patients and is considered the clinical expert and resource for the specialty service. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and students.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with service coordination of supply chain
  • Must possess a minimum of two years recent work experience in, and complete understanding of, the specific specialty procedures area served
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills by a minimum of four points in leadership roles/responsibilities within the last three years, which may be obtained through the following: Leadership of a project team with effective project outcome and implementation; Advanced degree (MSN) with a focus in leadership; Relief PCC; Qualified Preceptor; Leadership of a Practice Council or in a professional organization; House Supervisor; Membership in a professional development program, Quality Councils and/or PI Teams; Skin Prevalence Nurse; Teaching a class/skills lab or acting as a Clinical instructor; and/or success as an EPIC Superuser.   • Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience in an acute care perioperative setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a perioperative setting
  • Registered Nurse
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room
  • Basic Life Support
