About The Position

The Inpatient Clinical Nurse possesses the ability to objectively assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care as a licensed Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse also works in collaboration with the a multi-disciplinary medical team focused on providing “patient centered” care by identification of psycho-social needs, continuity of care related to disease prevention and chronic disease management and provides patient education to promote Health Literacy.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state.
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred. STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS AVAILABLE.
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift up to 20-50 lbs. Lifting and/or transferring of patients may involve heavy lifting.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office or medical equipment.
  • Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, waist, legs, hips, knee joints, ankles, and feet is required.
  • Fine motor skills required.

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the WCHS core mission, vision and values
  • To function as primary care Nurse, and assume responsibility of charge nurse duties in order to provide optimal quality of patient care
  • Completes comprehensive initial admission assessment
  • Creates Nursing Care plan based on identified or remarkable initial objective assessment
  • Provides interventions as ordered by the Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant
  • Evaluates patient response to intervention and promptly notifies Medical Provider of patient condition whenever necessary
  • Obtains specimen collection
  • Generates consults to appropriate discipline based on initial admission assessment findings
  • Assists with Discharge planning
  • Provides patient disease preventable vaccines before discharge
  • Provides Discharge Instructions related to disease process and home management, and follow-up appointments with their Primary Care Provider to ensure continuity of care
  • Demonstrates ability to float to area of need to meet patient demand (Outpatient, Emergency Room) and/or assists with Emergency Response Preparedness operations
  • Makes decisions in matters of significance
  • Other duties as assigned
