About The Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse - IMC Employment Type: Full time / 36 hours weeks Shift: Rotating Shift (7am – 7pm or 7 pm – 7 am) Location: Silver Spring, MD Position Highlights: Competitive pay; New Hire Sign-On/Retention Bonus for qualified candidates Benefits – Medical, Dental & Vision, PTO, Free Parking, Metro Access, Tuition Reimbursement, 403(b) Quality of Life: Flexible work schedules Advancement: Opportunities to advance through the Clinical Advancement Program Unit Description: Reporting to the Director of 3 South/Intermediate Care Unit, this 30-bed unit provides care for high-acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties. Comorbidities are diverse and patients often require cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support. Unit equipped with two negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms. On-site Nurse educator. Acute/Critical Care course for nurses who are new to the acute, in-patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred. Note, if the BSN is not present on hire, the employee must engage in a basic professional nursing degree program within twelve (12) months of hire
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice.
  • Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: internet, email, word processing
  • Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English
  • Effective eye and hand coordination
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including organization and prioritization.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
  • Ability to work well with individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
  • Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
