About The Position

The clinical nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. This role involves performing professional nursing duties that incorporate psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. The nurse will also evaluate patient outcomes, the effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary. Additionally, the clinical nurse acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit and may function as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care or completion of 6 month UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I orientation or new graduate RN residency didactic series
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (for all external candidates)
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
  • Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support certification

Responsibilities
