The Clinical Nurse II position in the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital is a critical role that combines advanced technologies and breakthrough discoveries with family-centered care. This position is designed for a Registered Nurse (RN) who will provide hands-on care to critically ill infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital or acquired heart disease. The CVICU is a premier 36-bed unit that is globally recognized for providing innovative pediatric advanced cardiac therapies, including heart failure treatments, heart transplants, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The Clinical Nurse will be responsible for delivering family-centered care, which involves partnering with the patient's family to consider all aspects of care and ensuring a nurturing climate of comfort and support. The Clinical Nurse will perform all steps of the nursing process, including assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and coordinating care with other providers. This role requires a commitment to professional development, including maintaining licensure and certifications, and contributing to the nursing profession through teaching, committee participation, and professional publications. The Clinical Nurse will also monitor the quality of nursing care provided and look for opportunities for continual improvement in patient care and the work environment. This position is a full-time role with a 0.9 FTE, requiring 12-hour night shifts, and is essential in advancing the mission to heal humanity, one child and family at a time.
