Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of Duke Health's mission across the state of North Carolina. We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II to assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient care area. Administer medications and special nursing care techniques prescribed for assigned patients. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the Registered Nurse as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. If candidate has another compact state RN license, NC state licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At the manager, clinical lead or HCA's discretion, employees with 6 months or experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
  • BLS required
  • ACLS will be required within first 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in an Infusion setting, utilizing Maestro Care in accordance with physician orders and policies and therapy plans to include scheduling of the patient.
  • Perform chart reviews for assigned patients.
  • Perform intake for clinic visits including collection of vital signs and medication review.
  • Perform blood draws for labs and point of care testing as needed.
  • Administer infusion medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
  • Mix and prepare infusion medications under protocol.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Stock and maintain inventory of patient care supplies and medications.
  • Identify clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities and participates in performance improvement projects.
  • Perform allergy skin testing and allergy challenges.
  • Administer injections, including but not limited to allergen immunotherapy injections and biologic injections.
  • Maintain clinical environment to meet JCAHO and OSHA regulations.
  • Attend practice/staff meetings and in-services.
  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities.
  • Other duties as delegated by nurse manager, provider, or health center administrator.
