Responsibilities Provides direct care to high-acuity cardiac patients. Coordinates with perfusionists, anesthesiologists, and surgeons. Prepares OR and verifies specialized cardiac equipment. Maintains sterile field and monitors vitals/hemodynamics. Manages blood coolers and assists with advanced cardiac devices. Responds to emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, hemorrhage). Documents intraoperative events and ensures proper handoff to PACU/CVICU staff. Participates in on-call coverage as required, with a response time of 30- minutes of notification. Scrub and/or Circulate for complex cardiac procedures (e.g; redo procedures, aortic dissections.) Serve as charge nurse or team lead during high-risk procedures. Lead intraoperative crisis response and emergency protocols. Develop and deliver training for CVOR staff on new technologies and procedures. Collaborate with surgeons on procedural planning and workflow optimization. Lead quality improvement projects and present findings to leadership. Act as liaison between CVOR and other departments (e.g., blood bank, cath lab) Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) 3-5 years’ experience in an Acute Healthcare 2-3 years’ experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room Familiarity with heart-lung machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, pacemakers, and other cardiovascular support devices. Understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures (e.g., CABG, valve replacements, aortic repairs) License Required: Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing. Certifications Required Current BLS certi fi cation prior to clinical rotation. ACLS required within 6 months of hire. National Certi fi cation in specialty area: CNOR Certification
