About The Position

The Clinical Nurse I – Perioperative role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for assigned patients in a Perioperative unit. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing: Physical assessments Nursing interventions Pain management Medication administrations Specimen collection Meeting nutritional needs Teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of the starting the BSN program.
  • License Required: Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
  • Certifications Required Current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
  • Heart Vascular Institute: ACLS.
  • Cath Lab: ACLS
  • CVOR: ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) Pre-op (Perioperative) and PACU: ACLS.
  • HOI Surgery Center (OSCOC): ACLS and PALS
  • Post-Acute Care Unit (PACU): ACLS and PALS (PALS required within 90 days of hire)
  • Pre/Post Unit: Nurses hired before 10/1/2025 : ACLS
  • Nurses hired after 10/1/2025 : ACLS, PALS within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) Pre-op and PACU: CNOR or CPAN.
  • Operating Room (OR): CNOR.
  • Post-Acute Care Unit (PACU): ASPAN certification.
  • Pre/Post Unit: Specialty certification.
