The Clinical Nurse I is a professional care worker who is responsible and accountable for providing and coordinating safe, effective individualized nursing care to critically ill patients and supportive care to significant others. Assess patient’s needs and pain, implements, and evaluates nursing care according to established standards. These activities require nursing judgment based on application of scientific principles of nursing, problem solving, and teaching/learning. To provide direct patient care to patients 18 years old and up. Patients are admitted with complex medical conditions/diseases from the Emergency Department, PACU and ICU (Intensive Care Unit). We receive patients from Direct Transfers, Ambulatory Clinics, Hospital to Hospital Referrals and Direct Admissions from home. Common medical diagnosis/conditions and post-operative surgical conditions include but are not limited to Diabetes, Pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Kidney Failure (Acute and Chronic), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Bowel Obstructions, Autoimmune Diseases, Sickle Cell Anemia, Blood Disorders, Drug/Alcohol Abuse and Sepsis. Common (Post-Operative) Surgical procedures may include Total Knee/Hip Replacements, Reconstructive Orthopedic conditions. In addition to General Surgery, Cardio/Thoracic, Vascular, Gynecology and Trauma Patients.
