About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) at Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) plays a crucial role in enhancing nursing practice and professional development across the organization. Reporting to the AVP of Nursing Education and Professional Practice, the CNE is responsible for developing and implementing standardized educational initiatives, conducting needs assessments, and facilitating nursing orientation and competency evaluations. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to foster a robust educational environment and promote a positive image of nursing within the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a BSN (required) or plan to obtain within 2 years.
  • Master's Degree (preferred).
  • Three (3) years clinical nursing experience (required) or five (5) years or more (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing education experience (required) or three (3) or more (preferred).
  • Current license to practice nursing in KY or WV depending on state of residency.
  • Professional Certification required or plan to obtain within 2 years of employment.
  • BLS required upon hire; ACLS and PALS required within 6 months; TNCC required within 1 year.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavioral health nursing education.
  • Additional instructor certifications in nursing education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct educational needs assessments using various methods/tools.
  • Incorporate principles of adult learning in planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate nursing orientation and competency evaluation of new staff.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based educational programs and offerings.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and other disciplines to create a robust educational environment.
  • Provide point of care assistance and support for nursing staff's clinical skills development.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of educational programs utilizing best practices.
  • Adjust educational content and teaching strategies based on learner needs.
  • Facilitate centralized nursing orientation and oversee onboarding of student nurses and clinical faculty.
  • Respond to changes in nursing practice and develop programs to support these changes.
  • Lead committees, work groups, and/or projects related to educational activities.
