About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Educator is a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner working under the direction of the Nursing Professional Development Manager in the Organizational Development & Learning Department. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Inpatient staff and will therefore collaborate with Inpatient leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • BSN required
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Certification within specialty or Nursing Professional Development required within 24 months
  • BLS Certification upon hire and required to remain current
  • ACLS certified within first year required and kept current

Nice To Haves

  • MSN preferred
  • BLS/ACLS/ PALS Instructor preferred and kept current
  • Certification in specialty area of clinical practice preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with general hospital orientation and Epic training
  • Works with department leadership to support new hires' department orientation
  • Assesses learning needs, identifies gaps, collaborates to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities/initiatives to achieve desired outcomes
  • Functions as instructor/faculty for life support program and other required clinical training
  • Provides formal and informal education based on the needs of the staff and organization, including but not limited to workshops, in services, drills, continuing education, competency validation, coaching, just in time training requirements, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with all institutional, regulatory, and accreditation training requirements/standards
  • Completes and maintains training documentation, measures outcomes, and shares with stakeholders as appropriate
  • Promotes continuous growth and ongoing professional learning
  • Supports preceptor development, leadership development, and the Transition to Practice Program
  • Works with inter-professional team (i.e. within the organization, community-based, academic/practice partnerships, etc.) to achieve common goals
  • Assists with coordination and orientation of faculty and student interns and clinical rotations to support strong talent pipelines for the health system
  • Serves on various councils/committees
  • Promotes, facilitates, and/or participates in various initiatives to improve outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned, within scope of licensure and skill set
