The Charge Registered Nurse is part of the Nurse Leadership Team in Med Surg Telemetry (Non-Critical) who performs the day-to-day floor supervision of the unit, shift-to-shift operations and implementation of the provision of patient care according to HCA standards of excellence. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school on nursing.
  • BSN Required or has a plan to complete within 3 years of hire, transfer, and/or currently in position.
  • Minimum of 1-5-year recent acute care experience.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada.
  • BLS certification and ACLS certification.
  • National Certification ANCC - Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • You will be an active member of the Nursing Leadership/Management Team by supporting the hospital philosophy, initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • You will provide mentorship/coaching/supervision of staff in alignment with ICARE standards, regulations, hospital process, protocols, policies and procedures.
  • You will monitor patient's behavioral and physiological status.
  • You will provide patient care based upon the nursing process, standards of practice and in compliance with hospital policies, protocols and procedures as indicated.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of principals of growth and development over life span and possess ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret and identify patient requirements relative to specific patient needs.
  • You will maintain calmness in a crisis and direct staff members appropriately.
  • You will supervise personnel providing direct patient care with delegation of activities based on patient care needs and supervision of staff regarding conflict resolution in accordance with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • You will assume responsibility for resolving and/or channeling employee grievances according to appropriate procedures.
  • You will assess responsibility for implementing staff development programs to enhance professional growth of personnel.
  • You will formulate staff schedule along with the Clinical Coordinator/Director.
  • You will self-assign patients and functions based on patient needs and available unit resources.
  • You communicate directly with the Unit Director/Manager on all staff performance issues that need attention.
  • You maintain effective utilization and maintenance of labor, equipment and supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
